![]() Sadly, some reports suggest that the game’s development is coming along somewhat slowly and that the game is still at least a couple of years off. However, aside from a cinematic announcement trailer, we haven’t seen hide or hair of the game since then. Two years ago, Microsoft announced a Perfect Dark reboot set to be developed by The Initiative. The game received critical acclaim from reviewers and fans but was sadly followed by the underwhelming Perfect Dark Zero for the Xbox 360 five years later. In 2000, Rare released Perfect Dark: an N64 spy thriller-themed FPS about conspiracies and aliens. Instead, we’re left to realize that this game is a long way off. Given the amount of time that has passed since the game’s announcement, the 2022 Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase would have been an excellent opportunity to reveal more info. Elder Scrolls fans can’t even put together enough leaks and rumors to theorycraft the game. Even then, we only got a short cinematic trailer designed to reassure audiences that yes, Bethesda was working on the title. Through it all, though, we haven’t heard any substantial updates about The Elder Scrolls 6 since it was announced four years ago. Here are the biggest previously confirmed titles that were missing in action during the Xbox and Bethesda showcase. Given that the presentation focused on games that are coming out in the next 12 months…well, that might tell you a little something about what your expectations for those missing titles should be. Unfortunately, quite a few of those games were missing from Xbox and Bethesda’s otherwise massive presentation. Countless studios closely affiliated with the Xbox are busy working on major games. However, those games only make up a small sampling of the titles coming to Microsoft’s supported hardware. For instance, few can really say they hated learning that the Persona franchise was finally coming to Xbox or that Hideo Kojima was creating an Xbox-exclusive title. Others, however, were pleasant surprises. Some of the info shared during the show was as welcome as it was expected (such as new trailers for Redfall, Starfield, and Forza Motorsport). Yet there were still some notable titles missing from the event. That changed during Xbox and Bethesda's showcase in June 2022, which featured a 15-minute gameplay showcase. The 2022 Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase was easily the longest digital showcase of the year so far, and it contained a healthy mix of updates on previously announced titles and world premieres. Starfield gameplayĮven after two trailers, we still arguably knew next to nothing about Starfield, with only hints given out by that pair of clips. ![]() Returning to the good side of that information, the game will also release straight onto Xbox Game Pass, so if you're a subscriber to that service you'll be able to play it at no additional cost immediately. That's why it wasn't a great surprise to get confirmation that the game will be exclusive to Xbox consoles and PC when it releases - Starfield will not be appearing on the PS4 or PS5. After all, Microsoft recently completed its blockbuster purchase of Bethesda, and big-name exclusives will surely have been one major motivator behind that. What would have been a simple bit of estimation over the course of years has become more complicated when it comes to the game's likely platforms. The slightly longer trailer above gave us a bit more to work with, but it was in June 2022 that we got our first full look at gameplay, in a showcase you can view further down this page.
